Creative Every Day

Journalling with cutouts and paint.

I follow the blog Creative Every Day where Leah encourages us to be creative every day! It has been a while since I've done anything and I am getting a bit behind as next months theme is hovering, so today I just sat and cutout and pasted and painted into my little journal, with no particular theme in mind ,just using stuff that I had lying around. It really is relaxing and a whole lot of fun too!!As you can see I love roses and the colour pink!!!

Rockwiz in Nambour

On Friday night we drove down the highway to Nambour to see the Rockwiz Show on tour. They are touring the country with their fantastic show and we were lucky enough to receive complimentary tickets to the gig in Nambour.
It was a great night with lots of laughs, guesses (right and wrong) at the quiz questions, sing alongs and general mayhem with Brian, Julia and the gang working the contestants and the audience up to a frenzy!!Their house band is fabulous.I would love to hire them for a party...they know just about every song ever written!!!
During interval we were lucky enough to have a quick word with Brian backstage...Here is the link to their site featuring the show in Nambour.

Sabots on the Noosa River

These little sailing boats are called Sabots. They are great for beginners who are just learning the ropes. They can turn on a 5cent piece and even if you do tip one over they are easy to right again.
This group of youngsters were having a ball yesterday afternoon out on the river.
The name Sabot means little shoe and I am guessing they are called that because of the shape of the boat. They do look like little clogs or shoes.

Here you can see the little shoe symbol on the mast.

Noosa Festival of Surfing day two

Day Two.....
The waves are epic for this years contest, unfortunately often with great waves comes not so great weather. It's still raining but the great waves have made up for the lack of sunshine.

Choose a board.....contest tents at Noosa First Point.
Umbrellas were the accessory of choice or should I say necessity for spectators as we are still being pounded by rain and big swells here on the Sunshine Coast.

The Noosa Festival of Surfing

All this week the Noosa Festival of Surfing is being held at First Point Noosa.
The waves are near perfect!
And with a cyclone lurking out to sea it can only get better for the surf.

Here is Murray surfing in his heat.
He is through to the quarter finals being held today.

Wet,wet wet.....

One thing you take for granted here in Queensland is that you hang your washing out and half an hour later it's dry.......
unless of course it's raining......and when it rains in Queensland it really rains.......

O.K. I've had enough now!!!!! I might even have to resort to the dreaded clothes dryer.....

Where has the sun gone?

 This is not Noosa!!!
This is Melbourne on a beautiful sunny early Autumn day!! On the banks of the Yarra River in Southbank about ten days ago.......

This is Noosa....
It rained for 5 days straight when I arrived back in Noosa and the weather was so bad the day I arrived that they diverted my flight to Brisbane and I had a two hour bus trip up to the "sunshine coast."I have only seen the sun and blue sky once since I got back from Victoria....
I am getting used to the colour palette of brown and gray It kind of grows on you......!!!!

My old school

Yesterday afternoon I took a peek in at my old school.
Lorne School was built in 1879 and the original old grey brick building was classified by the National Trust in 1979.
Lorne Higher Elementary School as it was known then was, and still is a school that caters for students from Prep through to Year 12.It is now a lovely modern school with sunny classrooms and shady outdoor areas. When I attended it only went to year 10 and you had to travel to Geelong on the school bus to finish through to year 12.

In the photo above the old original grey brick building was my grades one and two class room.
The orange extension on the left was my grade 3 classroom.I think these old buildings are now the admin areas.

The bell in the belltower was still in use when my two boys attended the school in the 70's and 80's

My son and grandson standing outside my old grade three classroom.(My grandson is in grade three this year!,but not at Lorne school)

National Trust Plaque on the wall of the origional School building.

The grey stone bricks were quarried from the banks of the Erskine River in Lorne and The Grand Pacific Hotel was also built from the same brick blocks.
My husband was also a teacher at the school for many years,he even taught our two boys!!
This classroom was where it all started for me way back in 1958 when I was 5yrs old.My grade Prep classroom.
