Home grown....

                                     Home Grown

                       "     Home grown tomatoes,
                           Home grown tomatoes,
                          What'd life be without
                          Home grown tomatoes.
                         There's only two things that
                         money can't buy,
                         That's true love and.....
                         Home grown tomatoes! "

Their only home....

A while ago Murray and I did the short "Mangrove Boardwalk" walk just off Weyba Road.It is right near the "Footy" Ground and near the site where the Farmers Market is held every Sunday.

Mangroves do have an important place in the ecosystem around the Noosa river and Weyba creek.

These birds apparently reside only in the mangroves....we did see the Heron....

Not far away you can cross the old Weybe Creek Bridge which was lovingly restored by "friends"in 1994.
Koalas are resident in the area....although Koala numbers have been greatly depleted in recent years in the Noosa area unfortunately. We didn't see any the day we were there but we did spot this sign on a gum tree.

A critical eye....sketches

I haven't looked at my sketch book for a long time...about a year ago I was very much into trying my hand at painting..It was a lot of fun and I would love to get back into it again. This little sketch book was where I started to experiment...What do you think?I know you will all be really kind and say they are fabulous!!!Anyway finding this little book has inspired me to get out the paints again and have a go.

Gearing up

The Noosa Triathlon is an annual event that has been going since 1983.It is Australia's largest and highest profile triathlon event and the whole town is gearing up for the race. For the past couple of weeks they have been patching the road surface, trimming back branches and mowing the nature strips in readiness for this big event.Whilst we are not really into this type of sport,we usually stroll up to Gympie Terrace and have a squiz at how it is all going.Although it doesn't start till next weekend there are already lots of people jogging and cycling the course just to get a feel for what's ahead. This is a photo I took of last years event.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

And now for something a bit different.
I thought you would love to see our backyard with our new lawn and our vegies!!
Cormorants {I think}on Noosa river this morning. These birds are funny to watch. They can dive and stay down there  for so long you think they have come to grief only to see them surface further down the river.

THIS MORNING IN NOOSA

Halse Lodge Backpackers. This place is so popular with young overseas travellers. The building itself was actually on of the first houses built in Noosa heads.Isn't the Jacaranda Tree beautiful!
