Surf School

You can learn to surf any day of the week and pretty much every day of the year here in Noosa.

First you must practice on the sand.....and learn a few of the rules of the surf ...i e..do not drop in!!!

Once you know the basics....the rest is up to you to have a great time. The Instructors are always close by to encourage and help you out.....

There were two schools at the beach this morning. Both had lots of students. The instructors are helpful and very patient.

These kids were having a ball....

Thumbs up for that ride!!!!

This year our Christmas decorations have a bit of a beach theme to them.
I threw a few baubles and shells together and came up with this.
Actually it took me a little while to get the combination just right but I am really happy with the effect!!
We are not having a Christmas tree this year, just decorations and lights scattered around the place.
What do you think?

Goodbye Melbourne

I have had a lovely time here in Melbourne and also back home in Lorne.
I took this photo on my last day in Melbourne. It was late afternoon in Collins Street and the Firemen were attending a false alarm "fire" in the building behind us.
I just liked the way the sun was filtering through the trees.

Summer Daisies

When I first arrived back here at the house in Lorne I was a bit sad to see the state of the garden.Weeks of hot weather had taken it's toll and a lot of the plants had shriveled and died. But I was determined to find a few flowers for a small posie to put on the coffee table and here is what I found.I love the yellow daisies and the lipstick pink geranium.

Photos from the Christmas Album......

CHRISTMAS 1955

When we were little,Mum and Dad would drive us all the way to Melbourne from Lorne(2 1/2 hrs) so we could have our photo taken with Father Christmas. Here I am in the middle with my two sisters Christine and Kay.My two brothers were not even born yet.I am guessing this is Christmas 1955.I don't know if Myer were doing their windows back then but I know that was another not to be missed Christmas tradition in our house, as I know it was for a lot of people ,and we took our two boys as well when they were little.Just two days ago I had a peek at the" windows" while I was passing and was very dissapointed.Where are all the beautiful fairy lights and tinsel and pretty christmassy things? Is all that so politically incorect now?Anyway I hope all the littlies and their mums who were there looking the day I was passing loved what they saw just as much as I did all those years ago.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Iconic trees

"The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago,
The second best time is now"~unknown

The iconic, Heritage Listed fig trees in Eumundi are definately much older than 20yrs, and are a favourite place for fun and entertainment every Wed and Sat when the famous Eumundi Markets are in full swing.

This guy had a captive audience the day we visited, and the huge branches of the trees were a great spot for an uninterupted view.

The spreading branches of the beautiful fig kept the hot sun off so no need for hats.

No he didn't fall.......I think he's done this before!!

Surfing dog.

This little dog is quite famous around the traps here and he is seen quite ofter out in the lineup.....

Well you didn't think he did it on his own now did you? Even so a pretty gutsy effort by the little fella who by all accounts thoroughly enjoys getting out amoungst it when there is a bit of swell.

He and his 2 legged friend are often spotted practising this stand up paddle surfing on the Noosa river.

House Guest

Gecko

Geckos are small lizards with big heads and big eyes. They have no eye lids and keep their eyes moist and clean by licking them with their tongues. They also have little suction pads on their feet that enable them to hang upside down and not fall off. This little fella has been visiting us on and off for a while now.We often see him at night scurrying up the walls and across the ceiling and making the funny chirping sound as he goes.Because he is only about 10 centimetres long and not scary at all we just let him roam free about the house.

Happy Anniversary

                               25/11/1972

She was 19.  He was 21.
She wore a gown of white Swiss Voile and carried pink and cream roses with maidenhair fern.
He wore a jacket of dark green velvet, black pants and a black velvet bowtie.
Their friends and family gathered on the banks of the Cumberland River in Lorne.
They said "I do" and everyone wished them well.
Later at the Lorne Golf Club plates were piled high as guests worked their way through a smorgasbord of crayfish, prawns, oysters and Pavlova....
They danced, they sang, they drank Cherry Advocat and lemonade,Mateuse Rose and cider.
They Honeymooned in Merimbula on the N.S.W. south coast driving all the way there and back in the old Bedford van...
2 kids in love heading off on the greatest adventure of their lives.....

And 37 years later the adventure continues.......

                              Happy Anniversary to US!!
