Foggy morning on the river.

It was a very foggy morning on the river yesterday.
Usually as you look towards the rivermouth you can see waves breaking on the bar.Not today.
Even though the visibility was poor it was really quite a warm day and as usual lots of people were out enjoying what the river has to offer.

Art journal ideas

I have been going through my old magazines and cutting out some images that take my eye.I am going to use them in an Art Journal eventually. Most of my mags are home and garden type publications so all these images are along those lines.
It's a fun exercise and you soon realize what you are attracted to.Mine is still lots of white and pink!!

TODAYS LOOK AT NOSTALGIA......

...... is this old wooden rolling pin that belonged to my Grandmother.

Whenever I use it I am reminded of what a beautiful cook Nanna was.
I am not quite up to her standard but I do love making pastry and whenever I make a pie and use this rolling pin I think of her.

I have no idea what wood it is made from but it is beautiful and smooth in your hands and I also love all the little nicks and bumps in it from all the years of use.

Often its the simple things that are the most beautiful.

Fishing for Mud Crabs.

Fishing for mud crabs in Weyba Creek Noosaville.
I believe the catch can be quite prolific and if you love 'muddies' this is a good place to catch them.
You must always throw the females back though, to keep the numbers up.

snuggly bed socks

A great way to use up your wool scraps and odd skeins of wool is to knit socks.
And bed socks are even better as it doesn't really matter what colour combination you use as no one is going to see them!                    I found this really good, easy pattern in one of my craft books and have almost finished one sock already. The pattern is so easy you can knit while you are watching T.V.

Time for a Facelift?

The  slipway here at Massouds Jetty on the Noosa River often sees river craft parked waiting for some maintenance to be carried out.
But I think this' old girl 'will be here for quite some time.Where would you start?
I'm sure she was beautiful in her day and who knows what miracles will be performed over the coming weeks ...or months.
I will keep you posted on her progress..........

Seashore collection

I've been cleaning my "shell" collection.A bigger job than I anticipated but very enjoyable at the same time.I love shells and I love holding them and I love how there is still a hint of the beach smell to them even after they have been sitting in a glass jar for years.Isn't it fantastic how in nature colours just automatically go together.Even the tiny bits of sea glass that I have collected seem to tone in beautifully with the colours of the shells, rocks and driftwood.
It was a big job cleaning all the dust out of them but they do look great again displayed in their glass bowls and jars.

Back in Noosa

We've had our grandson staying with us for the school holidays.Grandkids are so much fun!!
All he wanted to do was play 'footy'.Just as well Noosa has a great AFL ground here (thanks to all those expat Vic's).We did get to the beach as well but it was a bit too cold for swimming.
