Harrold
This is Harrold.
He sits at the entrance to the National Park and lots of tourists have their photo taken with him.Often, he is holding a sprig of gum leaves in his paw.
He was a bit of an identity apparently and was quite old but sadly he died from a dog attack a few years ago.
The plaque reads......In memory of Harrold who died of a dog attack in Noosa National Park.

Tea Tree Bay
Yesterday we walked to Tea Tree Bay in the beautiful Noosa National Park.It is a really beautiful spot and there were not too many people about, thankfully, after the madness of crowds over the weekend.
Murray got some great little waves and I read my book.

Green lace
We pass this tree every time we do the river walk. It's a gorgeous old tree, not very big but quite old I think and it has the most beautiful ferns growing all over it's branches making it look like its covered in green lace.

Noosa Triathlon
Today is the Noosa Triathlon.
As I am writing this all those' fit and healthy' people will already be out there pounding the bitumen hoping to better their time of last year.
This event is huge here and although it doesn't really interest me I do admire all the effort that goes into the whole show.
These pics are from last years event.
p.s. How about that magnificent poinciana tree in the last shot.It is all one tree...fabulous!!!.And just as an aside, the poincianas are not flowering yet this year.

The Hibiscus
Early blooms of Hibiscus are starting to appear around Noosa. A good sign that winter is nearly over.
I will be in Victoria from tomorrow.
I will catch up with you all from there.
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Sails in the rain.
Sails Restaurant sits right on the beach at Main Beach. Noosa.
Last night, even in the rain it looked beautiful with its soft lighting, towering palm trees and fantastic view.
A very popular spot for wedding receptions and special anniversaries.
We haven't actually eaten here yet but it is on the list of things to do.
Better book early though.

Dredging
The beach here at Pelican Beach on the river looks lovely in this photo, but a lot of the sand has been slowly washed away by the weather and the constant erosion by the wake from boats going up and down the river.
Every so often the shire sends in a dredging boat to dredge the river and deposit the sand back on the beach.
In this photo you can see where they have already dumped a large amount of sand at Munna Point

Venezia ?
No it's not a gondola on one of the canals in Venice!!
This 'gondolier' works the Noosa River mainly in summer. He ferries tourists (usually young lovers) up and down the river while they sit back, polish off a bottle of bubbly and watch the sun go down.Very romantic.....
Today it looks as though he's off to pick up a happy couple after their wedding ceremony.

Heading home
An old fishing boat that has been lovingly restored, rounds the bend at Munna Point and heads for home, after a days fishing and cruising on the Noosa River.

Don't you love Memory Lane....
Today's look at nostalgia is this little egg cup shaped like a boot.
When I was a little girl I had one just the same and I fondly remember having my 'googy egg' served up in this little boot along with 'soldiers' to 'dip in' !!!
When I saw this one on ebay a couple of years agoI just couldn't pass it up.And whenever I have a boiled egg it is a real walk down memory lane for me.
I guess I never really grew up !!!

Not a cloud in the sky.
Looking back towards the rivermouth, from one of the public jetty's on the river, on a beautiful winters day in Noosa.

Stingray
Stingrays are quite common in the Noosa River.
You often see them cruising past in the shallows vacuuming up the sand looking for food.
These ones are only little.... about half a metre accross.

Raw Energy
Our favourite place for a fresh juice is the cafe' Raw Energy' in Gympie Terrace.
They do the best juices...they are always fresh, with just the right mix of fruits and vegies and not too much ice!!
This one is called the ARAGONA.Melon, ginger, apple and pineapple. My favourite!
They also do great breakfasts and lunches chock full of freshness and goodness.

Foggy morning on the river.
It was a very foggy morning on the river yesterday.
Usually as you look towards the rivermouth you can see waves breaking on the bar.Not today.
Even though the visibility was poor it was really quite a warm day and as usual lots of people were out enjoying what the river has to offer.
